WOMAN ON TOP POSITIONS OR ON MANAGEMENT CADRE
Are
woman really qualified for top management positions in any economy especially
Africa? Well this is the type questions most of us should answer whether its
true or not. In my case any person can qualify no matter the skin type, short ,
tall, black or white or whatever color you may have, or whether you are a man
or a woman it just depend on what you have, skills, educational qualification,
quality, talent just what ever you have to be the best.
When
schooling in high schools in class you will find that there are a lot of
different girls and boys who have the potential to be leaders, potential to be
, managers, potential to be Chief Executive Officers, Chief Financial Officers
or just any kind of profession. In life they are no failures, each individual
was given a potential to be good in something one way or the other. Even though
they have all these potentials all these genders, one gender is still
dominating on all levels “man” but why is it so, is it not supposed to be like
50/50 issue as many governments are now pushing for it. Its by culture that man
are better than woman but we have all seen companies that are managed by man
falling apart woman reviving them for a better business environment.
Many
governments have now put in they strategic plans that among their goals is to
have woman an equal representative as their
male counterpart in their top strategic positions. This is a good sign
of good governance but how will they achieve that? Will it be a true figure
hundred percent 50/50 or it will just be a mere say that they have achieved the
50/50 percent of representations in government. On my side I say no it will
never happen it will just be either one gender on top from a specific period of
time and then the other takes over just like that but there shouldn’t be much
wider margin between the two genders balancing figures.
There
question still remains, HOW WILL THEY PUSH THE OTHER GENDER UP THERE FOR EQUALL
REPRESENATTION? Because like for example in
my country when a position is to be filled it has to be placed in
advertisement for every potential candidate who fill like competing for the
post can compete by applying for the post. Now after all the applications have
been received by the ministry or agent or office, they are sorted out to find
the people who meet the minimum and potential requirements for interviews, then
potential candidates are called for interviews to be interviewed.
In
the interview process the interview panel mostly is a mixture of man and woman and the people to be interviewed is
a mixture of both genders but in end mostly on top positions are still man to
be appointed or who come up top. How can these top positions be filled if the
other gender in most cases they don’t come up top, does this mean we have to
check the gender balance first and then choose a lady or a man based on the
fact that in this certain organizations there are too many males or females, if
this is the way forward then in the advertisements thy should be stating
clearly that they only want this specific gender to apply so as to address the
shortages of genders in specific areas or positions.
Woman
who are working are brave they have a position name at work they are mother for
those who are having kids, they are considered wives for those who are married,
they are chefs at home for the family, they are sisters, they have a bigger
role they play, cleaning of the house. even though they also need equal
representation it will be unfair to give them jobs just like that at the
expense of the other. We need to select individual who really can do and make a
different in society for the better. All genders have the same capabilities and
same successes and failures and good ideas..in Namibia the nation is still yet
to make a female president and or a non Oshiwambo president so the world is
waiting to see in the next presidential elections to replace the current
president. If any of these happen history will take place in the lad of the
brave
.
Africa
is busy transforming itself for the better, we have seen long term serving
presidents being removed from their positions, female presidents taking
offices, major economic partnerships and agreements, up-liftment of
infrastructures, economic and unemployment wars that many African nations are
have started to strive for a better
living conditions for their people, it’s a huge and a big different and
achievement so far. In all this all
genders are working together showing a sign of a better tomorrow if the limited resources are used properly and
to the best.
Many
disabled individuals are now recognized of their ability to be part of the
workforce, campaigns are now being raised for their recognition. Being disabled
or have HIV/AIDS does not mean the person is useless and cannot be part of
society. Disadvantaged people are now at the top of many government strategy to
be considered for employment to have them included in society. In the spirit of
national building one should appreciate
